The Latest and Greatest on Our Alumni
Ann Curran Keeley (B.S.N. 1970, M.N. 1971), P.M.H./CNS-BC, R.N., LMFT, was inducted as an emeritus faculty member at the Mercer University Georgia Baptist College of Nursing.
Carol Velasquez (B.S.N. 1979) is the chief nursing officer at Shands Starke Regional Medical Center. She returned to Florida after spending several years in the western United States, where she held various nursing administration roles.
Marty L. Morrison (B.S.N. 1983) recently retired from UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville after 31 years of dedicated service in critical care nursing. He is currently enjoying full-time retirement with his family and pursuing various hobby interests.
Grace Morse-McNelis, Esq. (B.S.N. 1990) has joined the Richmond office of Sands Anderson PC law firm. Morse-McNelis has a diverse background as an attorney in medical law and a former medical professional, having practiced as a nurse and served in managerial positions. She applies her talents and experience to support two industry niches: traditional medical malpractice and correctional health care. Morse-McNelis received her law degree from the University of San Diego Law School. She is also an American College of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer.
Sierra Tomlinson (B.S.N. 2003) recently participated in a mission trip to Guatemala, volunteering at the Orphan’s Heart Malnutrition Center, where malnourished children go and live and recover until they are healthy enough to go back home. This was her fifth trip to the center, where they have two social workers, a nutritionist and a local pediatrician. Sierra participated in a sponsorship program that supports the children with food, monthly checkups at the center, home visits from the social worker, and assistance with school and therapy once they are home.
William G. Warrington, Jr. (Ph.D. 2008) has been promoted to Assistant Dean and Associate Professor for Graduate Nursing in the College of Nursing and Public Health for South University in Savannah, Georgia. Warrington had previously served as the Graduate Academic Director and Associate Professor for the Master of Science in Nursing — Family Nurse Practitioner program at the South University — Orlando learning site.
Martha Sturm (B.S.N. 2014) worked in the neurosurgical ICU at UF Health Shands Hospital after graduation. She is now starting her second year in the nurse anesthesia program at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Shirley C. Gordon (B.S.N. 1976, Ph.D. 1998) recently received the National Outstanding School Nurse Educator Award from the National Association of School Nurses. Dr. Gordon is a professor at the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University.
