The College of Nursing mourns the passing of these Gator Nurse alumni.
Marilyn J. Norman (BSN 1961), 84, of Pittsboro, North Carolina, passed away Dec. 18, 2023. Marilyn graduated from the University of Florida and received her master’s in public health nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Sandra J. Stone (BSN 1975), 71, of Holly Hill, Florida, passed away Dec. 6, 2023. She served her community as a nurse for more than 36 years.
Kim Monique Bowden Cabalfin (MSN 1995), 66, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away Nov. 18, 2023. Kim graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and later received her master’s degree from the University of Florida. She worked as a pediatric nurse practitioner for 17 years at a clinic that offered free healthcare services to the uninsured.
Janet N. Wray (BSN 1979), 66, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away Oct. 5, 2023. She studied nursing at the University of Florida, and completed her advanced nursing degrees at the University of Washington (master’s), and Loyola University (doctorate). Janet enjoyed a distinguished thirty-six-year career as a clinician and nurse educator.
Eileen Ginow Merriman (BSN 1981), 67, of Camden, South Carolina, passed away Sept. 23, 2023. Eileen was a talented and brilliant nurse who had a lifelong passion for UF football.
Joyce C. Strickland (BSN 1975), 90, of Palatka, Florida, passed away Sept. 22, 2023. While in her 40s with four children at home, she embarked into the health care field, studying to be a nurse at the University of Florida.
Margaret L. Kishpaugh (BSN 1976), 81, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away May 18, 2023. In addition to her UF degree, Margaret earned an MBA from Central Oklahoma University. She focused and specialized in consulting in hospice care.
Marilyn M. Cherrington (MSN 1985), 82, of Roswell, Georgia, passed away March 1, 2019.
Helen T. LeClair (BSN 1981, MSN 1990), 77, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Oct. 14, 2016.
