Spring 2023 Alumni Updates
Catching up with UF College of Nursing alumni.
Daleen A. Penoyer (PhD 1998) and Sandra J. Verbosky-Cadena (MSN 1983, PhD 1999) were selected as fellows of the American Academy of Nursing. The 2022 Class of Fellows was one of the largest to date, with 250 distinguished nurse leaders recognized for their significant contributions to health and health care. Fellows were inducted and recognized during the academy’s Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., in October.
Carla Fry (PhD 2012) was appointed as the new administrator and health officer for the Florida Department of Health – Monroe County.
Amy Owen Reeves (BSN 2000) was appointed to a six-year term to the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce to help identify the health care workforce needs of Georgia communities and meet those needs through the support and development of medical education programs. Additionally, Reeves was one of 54 individuals selected for Leadership Cobb, which provides awareness of current issues, community resources and the social, political and economic needs of the community.
Carolyn Mosby Adams (BSN 1972, MSN 1973) was a 2023 Award Inductee of the Black History Museum Archives of Marion County. Adams and her late husband, Arthur Adams, were honored with a number of local Marion County individuals for their leadership, distinguished work, special achievement or for being the first Black pioneer in a particular field.
