Joan Thomas-Newman

Joan Thomas-Newman (MSN 1986), 90, of Winter Park, Florida, passed away July 15, 2021. Joan worked for Orange County Public Schools at Orlando Technical Center for 27 years, first as a nursing instructor in the health occupations program, then for the last nine years as assistant director.

Janice Deanna “Dea” Browning

Janice Deanna “Dea” Browning (BSN 1978, MSN 1985), 70, of Palatka, Florida, passed away Aug. 4, 2021. Dea served for 25 years as a dermatologist nurse practitioner at the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville. Dea was a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Holistic Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau.

Chad Paul Schulze

Chad Paul Schulze (BSN 1994), 51, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away Aug. 31, 2021. Chad earned his nursing degree while in the ROTC program and earned the rank of captain in the Army National Guard. He then served as a nurse with UF Health, Lifequest Organ Recovery Services and the Malcom Randall Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Janet Lynn Svaral

Janet Lynn Svaral (MSN 1987), 75, of Bradenton, Florida, passed away Sept. 8, 2021. Janet’s life was dedicated to nursing and naturopathic medicine.
