Catching up with UF College of Nursing alumni.
Ann Keeley (BSN 1970, MN 1971) was named clinical associate professor emeritus at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing at Mercer University.
Jackie Hart (BSN 2005) recently accepted a new position as director of clinical practice at Haven Hospice in Gainesville. She is dually certified as a hospice and palliative care nurse and a hospice administrator. She celebrated 29 years at Haven in November.
Debra Andree (BSN 1993) was named president/ CEO of Community Health Centers, Inc. in Winter Garden. Andree began her career at Community Health Centers as a pediatrician in 2002 and was later promoted to chief of pediatrics in 2013 and then associate medical director.
Mavra (Hurwitz) Kear (BSN 1984, MSN 1988) was elected treasurer of the Florida Nurses Association. She works as a nurse practitioner in Lakeland, providing primary care integrated in a community mental health clinic.
Amaya Hill (BSN 2000) trained and worked in the neonatal intensive care unit at UF Health Shands before becoming a travel nurse. She is grateful for the experience and knowledge she gained while working in hospitals all over California, Hawaii and Boston before settling in San Francisco as a charge nurse. She always refers to the skills she learned at UF Health as the “golden standard” and loves sharing UF tips with coworkers in California.
Grand Guard Inductees In the fall, the UF Alumni Association hosted Grand Guard, a celebration honoring UF graduates from 50-plus years ago. Three College of Nursing alumni from the class of 1969 — Patricia Bailey, Jean Harrison and Pamela Toy — along with Ann Silcox from the class of 1962 and Annette Cowart (DCP 1960) returned to campus for a special lunch and tour of the college with Dean Anna McDaniel and Professors Emeriti Jo Snider and Jodi Irving. Graduates of the class of 1969 were also recognized with a dinner and formal induction ceremony.
