Family Member Pledges Bequest to Support Teijido Scholarship
Shayna Teijido passed away in 2011 while pursuing her B.S.N. degree at the College of Nursing.
Shayna was passionate about service to others
Claudine Teijido, aunt to Daniel Teijido, recently pledged a $10,000 bequest to the Shayna A. Teijido Memorial Gator Nursing Scholarship, named in honor of Daniel’s daughter, Shayna, who passed away in 2011 while pursuing her B.S.N. degree.
Shayna received a posthumous nursing degree from the University of Florida at the spring 2011 commencement ceremony. To honor her memory and her service to others, her parents established the scholarship “with the hope of helping aspiring nursing students wishing to help society in the same way Shayna had,” Daniel said.
Shayna was passionate about service to others. She was a member of the UF Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and the Sigma Phi Lambda Christian sorority, and volunteered for several other community charitable organizations.
“I hope that each student that benefits from this scholarship realizes the gift they were given and when possible that they pay it forward by recontributing to the fund. In this way, the fund will continue to grow and the benefit it provides will be self-generating for many years to come,” Mr. Teijido said.
For those interested in honoring her memory, the family requests donations be sent to:
