In Memoriam –The College of Nursing mourns the passing of these Gator Nurse alumni

Michael David Alvarez (BSN 1999), 43, of Lawtey, passed away Feb. 19, 2012.

Ms. Elinor Bak (BSN 1985), 55, of Gainesville, passed away Dec. 10, 2011. She worked in the emergency room at Alachua General Hospital for many years. She worked for Shands Vista and Shands at the University of Florida in her later years.

Mrs. Susan M. Breeden (BSN 1981), 56, of Burnsville, N.C., passed away Jan. 12, 2012.

Dr. Sally Knox, 69, of Gainesville, passed away Nov. 15, 2011. Dr. Knox was a former faculty member with the Department of Health Care Environments and Systems at the College of Nursing.

Crystal Lee Doles Richards (BSN ’86), 48, of Gainesville, passed away Nov. 1, 2011. She worked as a registered nurse at Shands at the University of Florida and Pediatric After Hours.

Sister Mary Helen Tunnicliff (MN 1966), 85, of Vicksburg, Miss., passed away Dec. 25, 2011. She was the E.R. supervisor at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg and also the operating room supervisor and later administrator at St. John’s Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. Lt. Comdr.

Lowell E. Slagle, Jr. (BSN 1977), 63, of Butte, Mont., passed away Oct. 9, 2011.

Due to a database error, Judy M. Moore (BSN 1967, MSN 1969) of Palatka, was incorrectly listed as deceased in the Fall 2011 issue of The Gator Nurse. We apologize for the oversight and any inconvenience.
